Hi All,
I am using reportviewer component to present data,
On Clicking report button report is generated with data , now if one makes
some changes into database. and on cliking the view report button again
(second time or n times), it actually does not go to database and get the
latest update, Same old data is displayed with out updating with new records.
How to get the latest data from database on click of Report button when
there is change in the data in database
To over the above problem i followed two steps as follows.
1. In the Report Manager -> Property tab -> Execution Linke
the option "Render this report with the most recent data" is selected.
But this doen't work.
2. I don't want to check the AutoFresh Property of Report in VS.NET ( Reprot
Designer).
I am sure this is common problem which all might have faced .
It's very urgent, Pls Help

Jim.If you are doing this manually you can click the refresh button in the
report viewer. I have found that the "view report" button doesn't
refresh the report...it generally works off of a cached copy even if
you aren't caching. There is a small button just to the right of the
export area that will refresh the report.|||Yes, i know that there is refresh button but i need automatically. Any how
i have solved this by adding a line in reportviewer control.

Reference Package Level Variables in a Script Component.
I am trying to reference a package level variable in a script component (in the Code) and am unable to do so successfully. I have it listed as a ReadOnlyVariables in the custom properties of the script component, however unable to reference it in the code.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did that and I was able to locate the variable. What does "ME" refer to? Is it refering to the Script Component? Does typing ME in different procedures/functions within the Script Component refer to different things?

I put the RowCount Variable in the ReadWriteVariables property of the Script Component since having it in the ReadOnlyVariables was hanging the application. But when I put it under the ReadWriteVariables, I get the following error.

1) Are your script and rowcount components in the same data-flow? This is not a good idea because the Rowcount component will not populate the variable until the data-flow is complete. If you want to use that value in the script component then you will have to break the data-flow into 2 and pass the data between the 2 using a raw file.
2) You can't reference variables listed in ReadWriteVariables inside the Input0_ProcessInputRow(Row) method. You can override the PostExecute() method which gets called when all the rows in the pipeline have passed through the component. ReadWriteVariables CAN be accessed in there.

Well this may not actually physically be the case but logically that is how you should think of it. There is certainly no guarantee that a variable populated in a component will be readable by another component in the same data-flow. You should never attempt to do this.
Don't think of the components as seperate "things". The lowest unit of execution is a data-flow. The components are just the constituent parts of that and it helps to think of them as of they are actually all executing at the same time

Thank you so much for taking time to explain all of this. The RowCount Variable is written out to destination at the end of processing as a new row. It is not outputted on every single row. I basically want to count the number of input rows coming into my script component, process them and write them out but at the end write out an additional line which has the count of total rows processed.

|||Well it sounds as though the extra row you want to output will most likely have different column metadata to the rest of the pipeline and if that's the case then you won't be able to do this.
But...if you do want to...then here's what you should do.

RefCount dismatch on Row Count components
Has anyone seen this error?
messageText:
A call to the ProcessInput method for input 507 on component "CNT RowsInput"
(505) unexpectedly kept a reference to the buffer it was passed. The refcount on
that buffer was 4 before the call, and 5 after the call returned.
dataCode: -2147192599
dataBytes:
The CNT RowsInput transformation is right between the oledb source and the derive transformation. It is the 2nd transformation in the data flow.
I use all defaults for the Data flow task and provide a valid BufferTempStoragePath.
The closest/detailed explaination I found
A call to the ProcessInput
method for input %1!d! on %2!s! unexpectedly kept a reference to the
buffer it was passed. The refcount on that buffer was %3!d! before the
call, and %4!d! after the call returned. The component is keeping
references to buffers it shouldn't. If it needs to keep the buffer, it
should make a copy of the buffer for itself by calling the Clone method.from

I figured it didn't really matter - but it doesn't help me much when I have a script in my Master package that looks for any warnings from any of the many packages the Master runs, compiles all the warnings and sends it to me and my boss. He of course in turn asks what is wrong and when I say not to worry about the buffer error he wants to know why he gets emails on it then.... LOL I haven't actually found an instance where the rowcount was wrong after one of those warnings.
Mailing all the warnings and errors has saved our butts - for example when someone changed a table that is used for lookups it caused the lookup to match multiple records we got a warning. So I highly recommend the practice but its kinda lame becuase people have started to ignore the warnings when about 50% of the time at least one of the daily packages will get that error about the buffers.

In my package which emails warnings and errors I added code to explicitly ignore that error. In the hundreds of packages run everyday we've never had this warning result in incorrect data.
